Trendy Tuesday: Florals

It's the first day of April! We're getting closer and closer to those sunny days. Here in England, that might be months away but since the days are going really quickly, they'll probably be here before we know it.

Floral outfits are one of the most girly ways to say hello to the spring and summer seasons. They give you a pixie or fairy-like look and go best with loose wavy hair. Flower headbands also look really nice. Although floral wear isn't really my thing, I still think it looks beautiful.

Valentino. This dress with embroidery is so old fashioned - I feel like I wore it when I was 10 - but hey - it's a classic - and the work is beautiful RH

normally not a mullet dress fan, but the less drastic cut and flowy print of this one changed my mind

I don't own any floral clothing last time I checked. I have floral tights but no tops or bottoms.

Favourite Moments Of March 2014

It's already the end of March. The year is going by at a slightly quicker pace than I can keep up with. My exams are slowly getting closer and closer.

I don't really want to focus on the negatives, though, so here are my favourite moments of March:
  • The first full day of sunshine this year! Our family had a barbecue.
  • The second full day of sunshine this year! I took my sister for a walk around and then we had another barbecue.
  • My 2-year anniversary with my boyfriend <3
  • My little sister's 3rd birthday. Pizza and burgers for dinner!
  • The teacher strike day. That was such a peaceful day for me...
It's April Fool's Day tomorrow!

Scrap Art: Noticeboard

I figured out how to add photos!!

I hope this worked...

Anyway, I have loads of scrap fabric around so I went on Pinterest for some ideas for what to do with it all. One idea was to use the fabric and some cardboard to make a notice board. I thought this was a pretty good idea since I need one now to put my exam timetables and revision notes on.

I decided to make it by weaving strips of fabric together. It took longer than I anticipated but I got there eventually. I didn't want just a plain rectangular noticeboard. That's boring. I want one that's different and a bit abstract. By weaving the fabric, I can easily adjust the lengths to suit the cardboard frame which I still need to make.

Also it would look nice matching the boxes I made from woven magazine strips. Remember those? They haven't broken yet and they're really good for keeping your makeup together.
I made the strips different lengths too. I made quite a lot of them but I am slightly convinced that I haven't made enough...

I should be done within the next week. I still have revision and other things to do. I want to make sure I pass the year. There is no way that I am going to redo Year 12.

New Things!

I have a new phone! I am once again connected to everyone. But I honestly think the best thing about about this phone is that it has Blogger on it. I'm still getting used to the keyboard since it can't really keep up with my fast typing as well as my old one.

One of my technology teachers also bought me a bag that's got a picture of a sewing machine on it. It is really nice and I love it. I help in her lessons with the Year 9s and it is nice to know that I am appreciated.

I can't add photos to my posts on my new phone but it is nice to know that I don't have to wait until I get to a laptop to post something.

I Still Had School

It was so peaceful. You don't understand. The school library was so hushed and there were no bratty little children everywhere so I had no fears of being ran into today. What is it with Year 7s and running?

Anyway, I still had lessons before lunch since my teachers were in school but after lunch I had an extra set of study periods. I actually used it pretty well. I got a lot of work done and I feel pretty good right now mentally. Physically, I feel ill. It's like my stomach is trying to remove itself from my body and so is my brain. I felt like this last night and the only reason I didn't stay at home today was because I knew the school would be silent. And empty. It should be like that all the time. Someone needs to teach the younger years that they don't own the school and they don't need to shout when they're talking to the person next to them. It drives me mad.

School is back on tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it. Yes, the shorter collection of students will be back but I have Product Design class tomorrow and what we're currently doing in those lessons is pretty fun.

I've got more homework out of the way because of today and I am really glad about that. It leaves me with more time to study and revise for my exams.

Trendy Tuesday: Maxi Skirts and Dresses

I haven't posted for a good few days... whoops! I literally have nothing to talk about at all. The weekend wasn't very eventful; I stayed at home and did revision whilst my family was out.

But, it's Tuesday! The day where I go on an adventure into the land that is Pinterest and find current fashion trends that I like.

This week, it's maxi power! They're drape and lightness makes them look so elegant and who doesn't want a skirt that flows as freely as a maxi? I like twirling around in skirts like that. You feel so light and carefree. Also, because they go all the way to the ground, you don't have to worry about anyone seeing your knickers...

Maxis are really bright and make a big statement. The intensity of the colours do vary and you can pretty much wear them with anything. The best thing to wear with them would be a figure hugging top. Maxi skirts are shapeless so it's best to flaunt what you can to balance with what it takes away from your body.

Also, within the pictures that appeared on my home page, I saw this dress screaming at me.

Marchesa ● Fall 2014, Embroidered Bodice Gown
It's a formal gown with an intricately embroidered top. The skirt on it is also a maxi skirt so I thought it would be a nice addition to this week's collection as well.

My phone is now officially dead. I've done everything I could be bothered to do to save the battery but, since last week, it has been on the fritz and last night it was being weird; I charged it up to a near-full battery but once I unplugged it, the battery went down to where it started. At 13%. After that it just kept decreasing regardless of whether it was in the charger or not. It turned off around 11.30pm last night.

I know not everyone has the privilege of having a phone so I'm not doing this to shove it in your face. I do feel really disconnected, though. Just before it died, I logged out of all of my accounts on the phone. I'm ready to let it go already. I don't see the point of getting it fixed since it's had a lot of problems for a while now and I'm more than certain that it's beyond saving. I still have to talk to my parents about it since I definitely don't have enough money to get a new one.

My laptop, however, has been very nice to me in my time of need. Over the last few days, it has been refusing to connect to the Internet. When my phone died I think it felt a bit of sympathy for me and decided to co-operate. I treat inanimate objects like they're alive, by the way. It's a weird thing I do.

Hopefully I can get something sorted out within the next week. That's all for now. Stay beautiful x

Too Much Water

I can't stop drinking water. I've been getting dehydrated really quickly lately and it's been about a week now. I don't know what it is, maybe stress, but it's weird.

Around the house I always have a big cup of water with me. 6-8 cups a day? Please, I'm drinking 20. It's a big problem...

I haven't been eating that much either. Telling random strangers on the internet is probably not a good idea, I don't know, but I think it'll encourage me to eat more if I acknowledge that there's something wrong. I've been trying to lose weight for a long time. As soon as I lose that weight, I lose my focus and just gain it all back. Within the last 2-3 years my weight has been fluctuating. The most weight I've lost has been 15kgs. That made me extremely happy. So happy that I didn't control my eating anymore and within 2 months I gained it all back.

I've got a Weight Tracker app on my phone now, though, so hopefully it'll help me with that control and help me to maintain my weight as soon as I lose it. The water thing is an issue and I have been overdoing it. I'm trying to break some habits that involve food so that I just gradually eat less and less over the next few weeks since, currently, I'm overeating. Whenever I feel hungry, I have a drink. But, I do have this habit of drinking water or milk whenever I'm stressed out. Basically, right now, I'm just filled with liquid.

Since I started the Weight Tracker thing I haven't lost or gained weight. I see that as a positive. If I can maintain that then I'll be glad; if I lose weight, I'll be ecstatic!

Trendy Tuesday: A Miscellaneous Collection

I haven't got any specifics for this week from Pinterest. Nothing really popped out at me whilst I was going through everything.I did see some really nice pictures, though, so I've decided to make this post a collection of different pictures.

I love the purple hair! My mum doesn't let me die my hair, I'd definitely dye it purple. Maybe a shade or two darker but I still think it looks amazing.

A New Season

It's sort of Spring now so I've decided to put all winter related projects on hold. I have been so busy with school work and meeting deadlines that I haven't had the time to make anything or finish anything that I started months ago. I've also been neglecting my sewing machine which is really bad. Basically, I've put everything on hold for now that's not a priority.

We're going into a new season; we're slowly but surely getting more sunny days. I've decided to start new projects that'll possibly lead into summer. One thing I really want to make is a gathered chiffon maxi skirt. I think they're really pretty so I thought I would make myself one when I get more money... I'm also planning on buying one just so I have one. With everything that's going to happen during the next few weeks like exams, I don't know if I'll have the time to do anything. I'm also planning on starting a portfolio for university soon so that's going to take up my time as well. I want it to be perfect and it's always ideal to start early.

With Spring comes new life and new beginnings. For me, it's just going to bring different stresses - coursework is now out of the way but now I have exams to think about. It's also warmer so, fashion-wise, I'm going to need new outfits. My stuff from last year don't fit me anymore and they're also out of style now. The things that I still feel comfortable in are very limited.

That's pretty much it for now. I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine!

A Dead Phone And A Muddy Back

So last night my phone went into a coma; the battery died. Tragic, right? I have two phone chargers for my phone since one doesn't always agree with me. Last night, both of them broke, The wires snapped clean off one of them - I don't know how but it did - and the wire on the other one split open - again, I don't know how. Technology hates me. Whilst it was in the charger, it didn't charge anyway. The battery stayed 35% full with both chargers. By the morning, it was comatose.

When I got to school, I found out that there's about 5 messages on that phone waiting for me. Right now, there's probably about 10. I'm not a popular person. I'm just really paranoid right now since I've applied to quite a few jobs and I don't want to miss any call just in case I was lucky enough to get one. But, then again, they'd call the land-line if I didn't answer, right?

Being phoneless meant that I couldn't shut off from the world whilst I was on the bus going to school and on the bus going home. I had to read my book (I'm on a Storm of Swords Part 2 by the way) with noise around me.

Anyway, during school I was fine. My friends and I had an absolute laugh during lunch and, since the weather was nice and warm, we sat outside for a little bit after we all ate. In our school, we have benches built into these walls that block off a bit of higher ground where trees and grass grow on the other side (right now it's all mud). The height of this is about half a foot lower than the height of wall itself. I was sitting on the actual wall since there was no space on the bench and I'm pretty sure most of you can guess what happened... I was pushed into the mud. I was laughing so hard I couldn't get up without some assistance; no one helped me. My friends don't care. It was also the same time that the bell went so I'm guessing quite a few people saw me laughing spasmodically as I tried to lift myself up. I got out eventually. My mud was covered in mud and dirt so when I got home I changed as quickly as I could - I felt very dirty.

Right now, I'm actually quite sleepy... I made myself a cup of coffee but it wasn't very strong and I'm guessing I can stay awake for another 3 hours or so. It's better than earlier; I was on the brink of collapsing back then. I'm kind of fine now.

Trendy Tuesday: Lace and Crochet

Okay, there's still two hours left of Tuesday and I'm not tired. Let's do this:

More and more tops and dresses nowadays have some sort of sheer intricate pattern on them. They're beautiful and I love the elegance that they add to things like t-shirts. I love those kinds of dresses because they're sexy without having to be revealing.

The patterns created by the lace and netting also makes dresses look like a piece of art and encourages everyone to up their game when it comes to putting an outfit together.

#Paris Fashion Week Zuhair Murad Fall/Winter 2014 RTW

This dress is absolutely divine and I look how it looks elegant yet rebellious at the same time. Paris Fashion week was filled with dresses similar to this (and included this one too) so if you haven't seen the collections, I suggest you do.

Love this navy lace dress! I saw dresses like this for the bridesmaids for a wedding. They were so adorable! But they were to the knee. Would be better...

Contrast Panel Lace Dress <3 #lbd

Gorgeous detailing. Love vintage teamed up with denim.

I am a big fan of lace and I have a purple lace top somewhere in the house; I've never worn it for this exact reason. I'll find it eventually. I also have loads of lace tights. They are gorgeous!

I wore a lace shrug over my dress for prom last year and I felt that it pulled my whole outfit together. It wasn't difficult to do since I was dressed all in black.

The intricate details in lace and crochet pieces are endless and so magnificent. Most people would probably overlook those patterns but knowing that someone made the time and effort to create a piece of clothing for you that accentuates art is something worth treasuring.

Almost There!

Woah... I set a target of 7,500 views by the end of this week and I am about 20 views away. Thank you! I really didn't expect the numbers to jump that high and it was really weird and shocking when I logged on but I do appreciate it.

Anyway, I have been stuck for ideas for my art exam for a while now but my friends and my dad (kind of) have helped me out and I have my ideas and creativeness flowing again. Since I got home today I have been glued to my laptop just looking for ideas and getting a bit distracted by things like Facebook and YouTube as well. A normal thing for me, I guess. I still get my work done, though.

Tomorrow I should be able to publish a Trendy Tuesday post but I'm doing stuff after school so I might not have the time. I'm a busy little Asian and school work is slowly flooding my life to the point where I only have a few seconds every now and then to breathe then get back into it all. I'll be fine. I actuall can't wait for my Art exam so I can get this over and done with.

A Wishlist: Summer Shoes

I love shoes; they make up a good part of the fashion side of my life. I don't have a lot of pairs myself but that's mainly because I'm really picky and poor so the shoes that I buy tend to be pretty expensive unless they're seasonal (like espadrilles). For example, I've gone through about 15 pairs of plimsoles and canvas summer shoes in my life and in that time I've had one pair of these awesome black and white trainers from Dunlop. I wear them quite a lot since they go with pretty much everything I have.

Anyway, last night I was surfing through Isme and Pinterest searching for summer shoes; I was trying to find some nice heels for this year since I normally wear flats. I came across this epic brand whilst going through Isme: Irregular Choice. Oh my goodness, the strangeness in all of the shoes makes me want to explode. They are AMAZING! Along with the shoes I found from Irregular Choice, I've compiled a little wishlist of summer shoes that I want to have:

Let's start with Irregular Choice. Believe it or not, these are their more tame shoes; they have some pairs with little statuettes of cats and unicorn heads for heels...
Kissing Kate

Abigails Party
Abigail's Party

Poetic Licence Backlash
Poetic Licence Backlash
I actually think these are wearable but they are really expensive. If I had to choose between any of these, it would have to be the last pair. They are purple!
The next brand that I adore is Joe Browns. Again, they're a brand that I found recently so I don't think I have anything from them. I might have a thing or two thanks to Isme but it's hard to keep up:
LF351 - Fun And Funky Floral Boot - Fun And Funky Floral Boot, Women's Footwear, Women's Clothing, Clothing, Accessories, Joe Browns
Funky and Floral Boots

LF363 - Wonderful Summer Wedge - Wonderful Summer Wedge, Women's Footwear, Women's Clothing, Clothing, Accessories, Joe Browns
Wonderful Summer Wedges
I am actually planning on getting the wedges from Joe Browns at some point this month so I hope they're still in stock by then. They look like they'd go well with my skin tone and I love the crafty look of Joe Browns in general (you'll know what I mean if you look through their website).

Next, is New Look:

Black (Black) Black Strappy Floral Print Contrast Platform Heels | 306221801 | New Look
Black Strappy Floral Print Contrast Platform Heels
If you can't see it yet, I am VERY picky when it comes to shoes. I said this at the beginning and I'm emphasising it now. Shoes make or break an outfit so it's really important to find ones that suit you. I am really into shoes that look crafted and make me feel like I'm on a stage everywhere I go.

The ones I currently own aren't patterned but they still look stylish and I'm hoping to use this year as an opportunity to change my wardrobe. I still wear things from 5 years ago; it's time to step it up a bit.

It's warm! Looking at the weather forecast for the coming week, I got pretty excited. Basically, we should be having a load of sunshine and heat where I am in the UK. I've seen people go out in crop tops already and showing their legs. It's pretty encouraging and I even considered going out today. I didn't. But I thought about it.

Warm weather in the UK is a big deal. Our skies are really bipolar and you can literaly go from sunshine to rain to snow in the space of 10 minutes. I love the warm weather (I'm Filipino, that's natural). Also, since the weather is slowly getting warmer, it's time to bust out my summer clothes. That means more t-shirts, less jumpers and "happier make-up"; the dark colours need to go.

I am a really self-conscious person and it does take a lot for me to be leggy (I always cover my legs with tights or leggings during the summer) so I have to overcome this somehow. I'm thinking of just going for it at school this Monday and see what happens.

I don't think we've seen the last of the winter yet, though... It's still early days and I don't want to get my hopes up just yet.

Blog Updates 06/03/14

I haven't done this in over a month so this feels necessary. It's March; we're 3 months into the year already and the world is on the brink of destruction. I have been keeping up with things in the news but this place on the internet is not the place to discuss it. So, let's just get on with the updates.

  • At the end of January, I hit 7,000 views. Now, I'm nearing 7,500! I really want to hit that number by the end of next week so please keep coming back and sharing and doing all the wonderful things you people do for me on Google+. It's really not a popular choice with people for social media but it does mean a lot when people stumble upon and decide to follow my pages.
  • I keep forgetting to upload things onto Fashion Fridays. Alex is drowning in work (according to her Facebook statuses) and so am I. I make time for this blog because I don't really concentrate my posts on anything in particular but the other blog is so fashion focused it's hard to keep up. It does mean that I won't be posting again tomorrow so don't expect anything then. This does lead me nicely to my next point, though.
  • I've changed Top Tips Tuesday. In my last update, I said that I'd make that a permanent thing because I felt like it was doing pretty well. Then, about 2 weeks ago, my advice bucket ran dry and there's no point in posting advice that can already be found in one million other places across the internet. I changed Top Tips into Trendy Tuesdays. I'm more comfortable with this and I think it'll work well. I spend a lot of time of Pinterest so I thought I'd do something with it for my blog. It's also like a substitute for Fashion Fridays. If I really can't find the time for it then I'm either going to back out from it or just repost my Trendy Tuesday stuff onto Fashion Fridays. It'll work. The title basically means the same thing, right? Alliteration is important. That's the only reason why they're different.
3 updates. They're pretty big updates compared to previous ones but I felt they were necessary.

That's all for now. Stay beautiful x

A Day In The Life Of The Monster: Burning Buses And Forehead Ash

It was pretty sunny today. That was nice.

This morning, I had enough time to wear make-up and catch the bus! The morning was so calm and peaceful. I've spent the last week listening to one song: Who You Are by Jessie J. I love this song so much. Anyway, I was on the bus half asleep, slumped on the seat when I and a bunch of others on the bus started seeing smoke come out from the seats and back of the bus. It didn't take long until the back was clouded by smoke which set off the alarm so the bus driver had no choice but to stop the bus. It wasn't a terrible place to be since it was about a 3 minute walk away from school. The bus has been having so many issues lately; it broke down on Monday and was pretty slow yesterday going to school. I think it's time is up.

Since I go to a Catholic school, we had mass for Ash Wednesday. I'm not religious at all so I'm always really bored at these things. Some of my friends were helping with the ash - putting ash on everyone's foreheads - so it was hard not to laugh when we came face to face and has to be all serene and serious. Some people came out of the mass with massive crosses all across their foreheads.

The rest of the day was pretty calm as well. The weather was luscious and after mass I had a study period then Art so I didn't do any work until after lunch. One of my friends went to the shops near the school and came back with a can of Monster for me!!

I had Stats to end the day and I walked in the sunshine to the bus stop. If the weather stays like this then I'm going to happy for the rest of this week at least.

That's all for now. Stay beautiful x

Trendy Tuesday: Collars

Collared dresses and blouses took over the fashion world last year. People stopped refusing to close the top button on their shirts (a pretty rebellious thing to do at school) and saw the neat and tidy look that it gave you instead. I have loads of tops and dresses with collars now. They're so popular that you can get collar necklaces to wear on top of a plain shirt. They're no longer associated with looking professional and, frankly, boring. Studs, alternate colours and embroidery have helped to become a big fashion statement.

I love them and I like the fact that flaunting your boobs is now frowned upon and covering up is the way to go. It certainly helps females like myself who aren't so gifted in the chest area...

Here are my favourite pictures from Pinterest this week:

Button Back Studded Collar Blouse

Studded Collar Blouse

Beaded Collar Blouse

Pop Collar Blouse

Great victory rolls!

A majority of collared blouses are made of chiffon. They're nice. I have a few. The biggest problem with them is that they're see-through which is really annoying sometimes. There are some made with thicker fabrics as well which are ideal for the colder days.

I don't know how long this trend will last. Collars have made it into haute couture as well as the red carpet so I doubt we'll see the end anytime soon.

I Want To Drive Already

I've been 17 for a few months now and I really want to get in a car and have some freedom and have the ability to go where I want without taking the bus all the time. I can pretty much get anywhere on a bus since I know 70% of the bus routes around here but I'd rather be in a car. By myself. What's the point of taking an hour long journey on a bus to get to the shopping centre or school when I can do it in 10 minutes in a car?

My parents bought me a driving lesson in a closed circuit for my 17th birthday. You don't need to be 17 or have a license to drive at this place so I don't really want to be the eldest one in that group (most of them will be around 13/14) and have my family staring at me whilst I'm driving around. I don't need that in my life. If I have a lesson, it'll be just my instructor and I in a car with no 13 year olds in the back seat waiting for their turn. I've putting this lesson off for as long as I can. I'll probably never have it but you never know.

I have money to pay for a provisional licence and a few driving lessons. I've also been looking for another job and have been since I finished working as a Christmas temp back in January so I can pay for more. I need a car by the time I start university. The places I want to go to are either big campus universities or city universities where you need a car to get from your dorm to studios to lectures. It'll also make it easier during term breaks to go home again.

I don't like being dependent on other people so much. I'm grateful for the driving lesson my parents got me but I don't like the situation I have to be in in order to have it. I don't want them paying for my future lessons either. They don't want me to be on the roads until I'm 20 anyway but protective parents are like that. I appreciate their concern but I've got to get myself some freedom from somewhere.
